Duane Burkard, New NCS COO!

Assisting in the continued development of services, expanding markets and growing geography. The team at NCS Fluid Handling Systems is excited to announce that Duane Burkard is joining the executive team.

Duane brings 3 decades of business operations oversight and people leadership in the Western Canadian Construction and Energy industries.

Duane is a proud Albertan, raised on a family farm in central Alberta, where his strong work ethic and determination were first cultivated.

Graduating with honors in Petroleum Engineering Technology Duane began his career in Hardisty, Alberta, with Petrolite Canada in the specialty oilfield chemicals sector. Within two years, he transitioned to Newalta, where he excelled in field sales for newly developed oilfield waste caverns in eastern Alberta before advancing into operations management. Over the next five years, he gained experience across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, working in operations and construction.

Duane later launched his own consulting and inspection business, managing projects such as a complete facility construction for Canadian Crude Separators (now Tervita). He eventually joined Tervita, where he spent nearly 20 years, including nine as Vice President of the Energy Services division. In this role, he led over 1,000 employees across Canada and the United States during peak industry activity.

He has held senior leadership roles, including Vice President at Secure Energy, CEO of Avenge Energy Services, and President of Alexander Chemical LP. With 34 years of experience in the Western Canadian industries and U.S. operations, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role as COO.

His leadership is defined by integrity, trust-building, and empowering people to excel. He values every role within an organization, believing that each contributes to success and fosters professional and personal growth. Duane prioritizes time in the field, learning from frontline teams, and listening to their insights and innovations. He is deeply committed to exceptional customer service and a strong culture of health and safety.
A Certified Engineering Technologist with ASET, Duane has also served on boards such as PSAC (now ENSERVA), Mariners Haven Homeowners Association, and Okotoks Curling Club.

With a focus on safety culture, stakeholder engagement, operational profitability, business strategy, and continuous improvement, Duane and his team are poised to lead NCS Fluid Handling Systems to new markets and expanded services.

Welcome to the team, Duane.
